Therapy

Feel safe in your body and steady in your relationships again.

Trauma-informed therapy that helps you understand the patterns trauma and overwhelm left behind, gently, and at your pace.

You do not have to force yourself into healing.

Many of the women I work with arrive at therapy feeling as though they should already understand what is happening inside them. They feel overwhelmed, shut down, anxious, exhausted, emotionally reactive, disconnected from their body, or caught in patterns they cannot seem to change. And somewhere underneath all of that, they wonder if something is simply wrong with them.

Nothing is wrong with you. These responses are not signs of failure. They are protective strategies that helped you survive, adapt, and keep going. Often for a very long time.

My work does not begin by pushing past your limits or asking you to revisit painful experiences before you are ready. It begins by slowing down. By listening carefully to what your system has been carrying. By creating enough safety for the next step to become clear.

This is not about fixing you. You are not broken. It is about coming back to yourself, at a pace that your nervous system can trust.

Therapy may support you if…

Calm on the outside, unsettled inside.

Live with anxiety or emotional overwhelm.

Experienced relational or developmental trauma.

Notice people pleasing or boundary issues.

Struggle to feel safe in your body.

Feel burnt out and mentally exhausted.

Want therapy that respects your pace.

Seek compassionate, grounded support.

Therapy that listens to the body, the nervous system, and the inner world.

Internal awareness

Therapy supports you to notice the different protective patterns within you with curiosity rather than shame. Instead of fighting yourself, you begin to understand why certain responses developed and what they have been trying to protect.

Nervous system safety

Trauma can live in the body as much as in memory. The work includes gentle awareness of activation, shutdown, breath, tension, pacing, and the cues your body gives you. This helps you build a steadier relationship with your nervous system.

Relational repair

Many wounds happen in relationship, so therapy also supports safer connection. This may include boundaries, trust, emotional clarity, communication, self respect, and understanding the relational patterns that repeat.

Difficult relationship patterns

Therapy begins gently.

The early stage of therapy is usually about slowing down and creating safety. You do not need to have a complete story or know exactly what you need before we begin. We may start with what is happening now, what feels difficult, what patterns keep repeating, and what your body and nervous system are already communicating.

Many of the women I work with have spent years trying to think their way through what they are feeling. Part of what we do together is gently shift that. Not by bypassing the mind, but by inviting the body and the inner world into the conversation. Often that is where the real information lives.

Over time, our work together may include reflection, nervous system awareness, inner listening, gentle body based practices, emotional processing, relational understanding, and practical support for daily life.

This is collaborative work. You are not pushed into anything. I pay attention to pace, consent, readiness, and what feels manageable for your system at every stage. There is no rush here. We go at the speed of safety.

An integrated trauma informed approach

Internal Family Systems informed therapy

IFS informed therapy offers a compassionate way to understand the different parts of your inner world. Protective responses are approached with respect, rather than judgement, so that deeper healing can unfold with care.

Deep Brain Reorienting

DBR uses gentle eye movements and orienting to support the nervous system's natural capacity to process threat and find safety. This somatic technique helps shift your system out of survival responses towards calm and presence.

Autonomic nervous system awareness

The nervous system shapes how we respond to stress, connection, conflict, and safety. Therapy supports you to recognise your own patterns of activation, shutdown, and regulation.

Relational and attachment focused therapy

Therapy explores how early and significant relationships may have shaped your sense of safety, worth, boundaries, and connection. The focus is on understanding these patterns with care and creating new possibilities.

A clinically informed approach

Therapy at Trauma Release Centre is informed by Angela's professional training in trauma recovery, Internal Family Systems, nervous system regulation, relational healing, and body based therapeutic practice.

Gentler relationship with your body.

Awareness of your emotional needs.

Clarity around boundaries.

Less shame around survival responses.

More choice in relationships.

Therapy does not promise quick fixes or guaranteed outcomes. Each person's process is different. The focus is on creating safe, steady, meaningful change at a pace that respects your system.

This therapy may be suitable if you are looking for a gentle, thoughtful, trauma informed approach that respects nervous system safety and emotional pacing. It may be especially supportive if you are curious about understanding yourself more deeply and want therapy that includes both insight and embodied awareness.

This therapy may not be the right fit if you are seeking emergency support, crisis intervention, or a highly directive behavioural programme. If you are in immediate danger or need urgent mental health support, please contact emergency services or a crisis support service in your area.
