IFS and Somatic Embodiment Training

A two day professional training with six months of fortnightly group consultation.

Concinnity IFS and Somatic Embodiment Training has been created for professionals who want to bring more depth, safety, and confidence into their client work.

Across two live online training days, you will explore how Internal Family Systems informed practice, somatic awareness, and nervous system understanding can work together to support safer, more compassionate therapeutic change.

This training is practical, experiential, and relational. It is designed to help you move beyond theory and begin embodying the model in a way that feels clear, grounded, and clinically useful.

Concinnity trainings are independently created and are not formally endorsed by the IFS Institute, HeartMath Institute, or the Trauma Research Foundation.

Concinnity IFS and Somatic Embodiment Training — online learning workspace with video conference

Bring IFS alive in your practice.

Many professionals understand the theory of trauma, protection, and nervous system responses, yet still feel unsure how to work with these processes safely in the room.

This training was created for that gap.

Concinnity brings together IFS informed practice, somatic embodiment, and autonomic nervous system awareness in a clear, practical, and experiential format. You will learn how to recognise protective responses, work with the body as part of the healing process, and strengthen your own therapeutic presence so clients can feel safer to explore what has been held inside.

The training includes two live online days followed by six months of fortnightly group consultation. This ongoing support helps you integrate the learning into real practice, rather than leaving you to work it out alone.

What you will learn

IFS informed foundations

Deepen your understanding of parts, Self energy, protective responses, wounded parts, unblending, and the importance of pacing.

Somatic embodiment

Learn how body awareness, sensation, breath, posture, and nervous system cues can support safer therapeutic process.

Working with protection

Recognise how protective parts show up through avoidance, pleasing, intellectualising, control, shutdown, emotional reactivity, and inner criticism.

Safety and stabilisation

Understand how to create enough safety before moving towards vulnerable material, so clients are not pushed beyond what their system can manage.

Therapeutic presence

Strengthen your ability to remain calm, clear, compassionate, and connected when strong emotions or protective responses arise.

Clinical integration

Explore how to integrate IFS informed and somatic principles into your existing therapeutic modality and professional scope.

Experiential learning in a small, supported cohort.

This training is intentionally small, with a maximum of twelve participants. The group size allows for interaction, practice, questions, and a stronger sense of relational safety.

The training includes teaching, live demonstration, guided practice, role rotation, discussion, and reflective integration. Participants will have opportunities to experience the model from different positions, as practitioner, client, and observer, while being supported to stay within their own professional and personal boundaries.

This is not a training where you simply receive information. It is a space where the model becomes felt, practised, and integrated over time.

Teaching

Clear teaching that makes the IFS model, somatic awareness, and nervous system principles accessible and clinically relevant.

Demonstration

Opportunities to observe how the work can be applied with care, pacing, consent, and therapeutic presence.

Practice

Guided role practice to help you build confidence and understand the model through direct experience.

Integration

Reflection and consultation to support application within your own professional context.

The rhythm of the training

Concinnity IFS and Somatic Embodiment Training follows a clear and supportive learning pathway. Each stage is designed to build understanding, safety, practice, and integration.

Stage 1: Recognition and psychoeducation

You will learn the foundations of IFS informed practice, somatic embodiment, and nervous system awareness. This stage supports clear understanding of how parts, protection, body responses, and therapeutic presence interact.

Stage 2: Pacing and therapeutic presence

You will explore how to create a safe learning and therapeutic space, with attention to pacing, choice, consent, and nervous system regulation.

Stage 3: Practice and exploration

You will engage in guided experiential practice, role rotation, and small group work so the model becomes more than theory. This is where confidence begins to grow through supported experience.

Stage 4: Integration and consultation

Learning continues beyond the two training days through fortnightly group consultation. These sessions support application, reflection, questions, and ongoing professional development.

What becomes possible in your practice

As you deepen your understanding of IFS informed practice and somatic embodiment, you may begin to notice a different quality in your work.

You may feel more able to stay present with complexity. You may notice protective responses with more compassion. You may have a clearer sense of when to slow down, when to stabilise, and when the client's system is ready to move closer to vulnerable material.

This training supports you to practise with greater steadiness, humility, curiosity, and clinical care.
